When leading an organization, we must have complete confidence in our team to dedicate ourselves to high-level managerial tasks.

Knowing how to delegate seems simple, but often leaders and managers become overloaded with routine tasks, hindering their strategic work. Today, based on my experience as a General Manager, I'll share with you... 5 tips that will mark a turning point in your ability to delegate:

1. Define which tasks you can delegate and to which talent

It's essential to analyze your activities to determine which ones you should perform yourself and which ones can be delegated to others, such as repetitive tasks. Once you've defined that, you can select the right delegate—someone with the skills and experience that match the tasks or responsibilities.

“It is vital to avoid overloading talent, so before transferring any activity, you must take into account the current workload.”

2. Share expectations and how follow-up will be conducted

Transparency is key to achieving good results. Whenever you delegate a task, you must clearly and precisely explain what you expect from it: desired outcomes, deadlines, standards, etc.

This must be accompanied by the necessary resources to complete the tasks. And of course, the review and monitoring system they will implement to track results, such as regular meetings, reports, or management systems.

3. Empower and encourage open communication

Taking on new tasks or responsibilities is a great challenge, but from your role, you must fully trust in the capabilities of your team, motivate them and encourage them to make decisions and solve problems, through constant training.

Complement that trust with always-available communication channels, so that any doubts can be resolved quickly, maximizing innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.

4. Provide feedback to adjust and optimize

Providing feedback to your talent is fundamental, not only to find areas for improvement and boost personal and professional growth, but also to motivate them through recognition and appreciation of their daily work.

When you analyze the results, you can learn how the delegation is working, allowing you to make the necessary adjustments and optimize your methods to always achieve the best results.

5. Use technological tools

There are many technological tools on the market that are an excellent way to increase the success of your projects. Among them, I can mention:

• Project management software: These are tools that help teams with the organization, tracking, and execution of work, such as monday.com or Trello.

• Communication platforms: Effective communication is key, which is why these tools allow teams to align by quickly learning about updates or changes. Google Meet and Zoom are platforms widely used by businesses.

• Online collaboration tools: They enable real-time collaboration, ensuring that teams work together efficiently, regardless of location. The best-known examples are Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams.

• Task automation applications: Everyone knows that freeing up team time is crucial for achieving goals, which is why implementing applications that automate repetitive tasks to manage workflows is ideal. Examples include IFTTT and Zapier.

With this information, you will be able to delegate tasks effectively, enabling the company to grow through... collaboration and trust with your entire team of collaborators.

Remember to implement the tools gradually and with proper training; that way, you can get the most out of them, and you'll notice a before and after in the performance, productivity and profitability of your company.
