Throughout this year we have been working on two major projects for one of our clients, which also complement and communicate with each other.

This involves the development of Hermes order orchestration systems and Nibbler payment systems that aim to streamline response times and flows related to the company's internal processes at the Latin American level.

To address these challenges, two teams were formed, led by Scrum Master Axel Burgos. Hermes consists of Rodrigo Collao, QA Automation Engineer; Rodrigo Pichiñual, DevOps Engineer; and Adrián Duarte, Developer. The Nibbler team includes Jaime Reyes, Technical Lead, and developers Elmer Morales and Rodrigo Morales. Previously, Jorge Veas, Guillermo Muñoz, and Rubén Baeza, among other talented individuals, also participated.

And what do we mean when we talk about an orchestrating system? Axel Burgos explains that our client has many satellite systems, such as point-of-sale terminals, databases, and the website itself. These systems continuously communicate with each other, providing a kind of feedback loop to facilitate the complete customer purchase process.

“If someone buys a product through the website, a purchase order is created, and Hermes orchestrates all the stages that order goes through, such as checking if there is stock in the warehouse or the logistical capacity to make the delivery. In parallel, Nibbler confirms the status regarding the payment method and credit notes, in case of a return,” he explains.

A significant part of the work has been implementing a flow that allows communication between on-premise satellite systems and those in the cloud, for which the teams had to develop several microservices.

“For the development of Hermes and Nibbler, we use trending tools like Gitlab for deployment and integration. We also use Google Cloud (GCP) tools and technologies, and for management, we work with Jira and Confluence, among others,” he emphasizes.

Regarding progress, Hermès is almost 95% complete and several workflows are already in production, while Nibbler is nearing completion, so both projects could be ready by December. Through these solutions, the client expects to optimize their entire e-commerce workflow and improve the user experience for their customers.

Finally, he highlights that “both teams have done a great job, operating jointly and collaboratively within an agile framework, sharing their knowledge and experience. Furthermore, they participate together in managing activity backlogs, reviews, and retrospectives.”

At Zenta, we are very proud of the level achieved by our teams and their ability to work together in the challenge of improving internal processes and response times of order and payment orchestration systems, in a scenario where our client must face a high volume of demand, sales and payment transactions every day.
