Our experience in Data Processing and Machine Learning has led us to work hand in hand with the State, in the FEF Security Committee, in favor of a better use of Artificial Intelligence.

The Science and Security working group, under the coordination of the Undersecretariat for Crime Prevention, convened the Encounters of the Future Foundation and scientists from various universities across the country to address the use of AI and generate security and crime prevention policies.

Among the scientists present at that event was Tomás Vera, Director of Zenta, beginning this alliance and making us part of a historic moment within the country.

As part of the FEF Security Committee, we have been able to support research and the development of policies that seek to protect and safeguard data within AI tools and much more.

Why is this work important?

Developing policies for the use of AI is fundamental for society, as it encompasses many aspects, such as:

• Transparency in developments: It is crucial to ensure that organizations are transparent in how AI systems are used and how data is handled.

• Ethical safeguards: By establishing good policies, we can ensure that these technologies are used ethically and responsibly, respecting the values and rights of each person.

• Prevention of bias: Standards must be established for data collection, with the aim of minimizing biases that may cause discrimination.

• Protection of the economic and labor environment: By implementing policies for a proper transition to an automated economy, it is possible to take measures that mitigate negative effects on the workforce.

• Security and privacy: Preventing unauthorized access, as well as malicious use of these technologies, is one of the main focuses, safeguarding privacy and protecting sensitive information.

These are just some of the points that can be improved when generating good policies to use them efficiently and consciously.

We continue working diligently to ensure better development and responsible implementation. This was evidenced by our participation on October 28, 2022, at the former National Congress building, as part of the FEF Security Committee.

If you'd like to learn more about that event, we invite you to read our article. Metaverse in Chile | The future has become reality and enjoy the International Congress on Artificial Intelligence, Neuro-rights, Digital Platforms and the Metaverse.

Tomás explains that, “during this time we have been advising the Security Forces on how to use Artificial Intelligence focused on humans.”

Today we can announce that the project is in the launch phase. “We are very proud to be part of the team that took the first steps in showing the government the correct use of AI in security, focused on citizens, and with strict respect for privacy and human rights,” Tomás concludes.

We will continue working and promoting better ways to use these technologies that are coming to positively change the way we live, if we have real regulations that safeguard their proper development and the way they are implemented on a daily basis.
